FAQ
What is the difference between DirectEdit PRO and DirectEdit FTP?
The two products are similar in many ways. However, the key difference is that DirectEdit PRO requires your site to be hosted by us. This allows you to make use of all the modules available for DirectEdit. With DirectEdit FTP, you can host your site with a third party, provided they offer FTP access to your website. DirectEdit FTP has a more limited selection of modules available than DirectEdit PRO.

What happens if I already have a website?
If you wish to purchase DirectEdit PRO, we can transfer your website to our servers and keep you informed of any additional actions you need to take.
If you wish to purchase DirectEdit FTP, you will be able to edit any HTML pages on your current website by simply supplying us with your FTP details.
My website is dynamic. Can I still use DirectEdit?
Contact one of BBI’s consultants, who will advise you on the DirectEdit package that best suits your requirements.
Do I need to know HTML?
Knowing some HTML is useful but not essential. DirectEdit provides a powerful WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor. If you or your staff can use Microsoft Word, you can produce websites using DirectEdit.
Can I have FTP access?
DirectEdit PRO comes with a comprehensive and feature-packed file browser that gives you complete control over your website. You do not need a third party FTP software, so you do not need to train your staff to use one.
Do I need any additional software?
DirectEdit removes the cost of third party FTP tools and HTML editors and requires no additional software.
Do I need any programming skills?
DirectEdit allows you to create feature-rich dynamic pages with no programming skills whatsoever. For example, the powerful object palette allows you to add such features as dynamic forms without the need to employ a programmer.
Can I still use my desktop HTML Editor?
Yes. You can still edit your website in your favourite editor and upload your files using the DirectEdit File Manager.
How secure is DirectEdit?
Access to DirectEdit is through the most secure encryption available - 128 bit SSL Certification.
What support will I get?
DirectEdit support is provided via our forums. To visit the forums, please click here.
If I want more control what can be done?
DirectEdit has a bigger brother in DirectCMS, which allows full control over navigation, user access (password protected areas) and e-newsletter - click here for more information.
